NGC 7822 - Cosmic Question Mark (9-panel Mosaic)

“The key to all sciences is unquestionably the question mark" - Honoré de Balzac

This is a project I always wanted to start, as it’s fascinating to see the universe reminding us about the unknowns out there. Long time ago my wife and I stumbled upon a beautiful image with similar framing; we liked it so much that it has been in the ending slides for most of our presentation decks where we open to questions Finally, I have my own version!

I got lucky to have about a month of straight clear nights to work on this project. Towards the end, some unfortunate HW issues combined with non-cooperative weather slows me down/stops me from collecting more data. On average 3-4 hour worth of data per panel in narrowband domain isn’t much, and the SNR suffers a bit. All in all, I’m fairly happy with what I got from a month of dedication.

Mosaic really kills patiance! Everytime I finished a project like this, I tell myself this is the last one I’d do. Till next time.

*I want to mention that Voyager is particularly helpful in arranging/managing the Mosaic project. Together with the NiteCrawler I got camera angles framed exactly the way I want, so there is very little to be cropped off.
