I am considering moving from CCD Autopilot to Voyager and currently working through the initial phase of the Voyager learning curve.
According to the user manual, as of v2.0.14e, it is possible to configure a sequence without connecting to your equipment as long as a profile has been defined and is active. I am using Voyager v2.2.4 with TheSkyX (latest daily build) and a Paramount MX+. All of my equipment is controlled by TSX (camera, filter wheel, guider, plate solve, focuser, flip-flat & dome) and TSX is the planetarium. Frankly, the tight integration of TSX with Voyager is what interested me in this software in the first place.
Unfortunately, even though I have defined a profile and it is active (listed in the “Profile” box and visible at top-right of main window), when trying to do a “fast find” without connecting to my equipment I receive a “Planetarium is not configured in Voyager Control!” error. Of course “fast find” works just fine when all of my equipment is “connected;” however, for a variety of reasons I would like to build my sequences without connecting to my equipment.
All of that said, is it really possible to configure a sequence without “connecting” to the profile equipment? If not, is there some workaround for TSX?
You can create, modify a sequence from onthefly click on the setting icon near Sequence button in Box Session. Also you can use the menĂą Tools and Editor and choose the Sequence Editor Button. You can choose on the sequence editor the profile of Sequence and you can create and modify sequence without be connected fro each profile of setting you have. You can search target using TSX or planetarium only if you are connected to setup or you can use the Simbad button also if you are not connected if you have internet on.
If you dont want to connect all setup you can clone the profile and substitute Camera with an ASCOM simulator and mount with a simulator and remove all the remaining setup. this leave filters equal to real profile and you can use this profile for sequencing configuration also in a different PC.
Using the ASCOM camera and mount simulators is working. I noticed that option in the manual but I was afraid I would lose my filter information if I switched from TSX to ASCOM camera control.
