Hi All,
Currently using Wait Safe using astronomical twightlight for my lat and long with an offset to start waking up and connecting gear. Finding that the offset needs to be varied throughout the year (I start about an hour before in summer and about 30-40 mins before in winter as it gets dark quicker in winter).
Given we have an AAGSOLO that measures sky brightness, I wondered if I could use a brightness value to start imaging rather than astronomical twightlight with an offset? Could maybe do with wait safe (and add light back in to events) but really just want to have it wait until darkness value exceeds 20,000 from the sld file (which is my dark threshold).
Thanks in advance
Matt
Matt, Wait Safe block use the Weather control report and not the time to start. Night time is just used like valid interval to put in and to the Weather control conditions to decide if the wait safe have sense and is in a night period.
So Voyager do not read the value in the sld file but the status light, very light dark etc…move the value of light in your aag solo to reach the threshold you want and use a very large night start offset before
Of course, in all this you are not taking into account the moon which would change all the cards on the table forcing you to give up narrow band images during periods with advanced lunar phase !!
Thanks Leo. Picking the right brightness value (or threshold for ‘dark’) will still enable imaging to start under a full moon. From memory a full moon is rarely brighter than 20,000 (sometimes towards 10,000) which is very different from a daytime brightness value (more like 10). I’ll prob move my ‘dark’ value to 5,000 to be sure to avoid full moon issues.
If I understand you correctly I can just use astronomical twighlight minus say 2 hours (so it definitely is outside of the light safe command) and then use the darkness value under the safety setting again to start that block once it reads ‘dark’?
Using the light raw value is not so easy like you think but its up to you find the right values for all various scenario.
Wait Safe use the Weather data , as said if all its safe (including light) to start Voyager must be inside the night time you define in the block configuration.
All the best
