If you are using your router locally even 300 feet away, either leave IP address blank or enter “localhost” in Voyager’s Web Dashboard setup and click on "Connect " button. It may take several retries or you may have to close Web Dashboard, re-open it and try it again.
If you are using remotely far away from your router (at least a mile), you may have to setup your router and add “port forwarding” settings (port numbers 5950, 5951 and 5952) and find your router’s WAN IP address. This is a tricky setup. It took me a while today to figure this out myself and I got it working where I can use my Android smart phone far away and control my astro equipment. I cannot really help you because your router configuration setup may be very different than my router that I may not be able give you step by step procedures.
If you need more tha 1 tries there are something not work. Usually dashboard connect at first time. If you are on teamviewer you are on the same PC of Voyager this mean are all locally and just push connect without input address is needed.
If you are in the same network but with a different IP you need to know the IP of Voyager server (this is simple just look at application server monitor at startup and read the list of IPs where server are listening and pick up the one of the network you use to connect) .
For port forwarding are not need in a local LAN. Like Peter wrote, this is needed if you access from external of your Network using a public IP or a DDNS and packet must be routed to the Voyager server. Probably also you need to create a rule on the firewall but basic router do this in the same moment you create the forwarding.
If you need support on this we are happy to help you.
thanks Peter and Leo, I may need help to setup a port forwarding. I will try a couple of things and if I need assistance i will let you know. Appreciate the help. Mike
I can not connect to the web dashboard but I can load/see the page with a link to the web dashboard.
The default port in the settings / voyager tab is 80 but my security software for my home uses ports 80 and 81 for web access. My router is forwarding port 80-81 to a computer that monitors my security cameras.
Can I please have some help figuring out what port to change that too and anything else I need to check to make this work?
If you use dashboard online it work using 5950 port.
If you use dashboard inside Voyager and you have activated the application server and dashboard service inside Voyager setting you can get page from webserver, default port is 80. Dashboard continue to work using port 5950 in anycase.
If you want you can change the webserver internal to Voyager to another port, just choose on Voyager setup, tab Voyager, box application server … change and restart Voyager.
